New Parliament building gears up for Monsoon session with dress code for staff

New Delhi: The Monsoon Session of Parliament is likely to be held in the new building with a new same dress code for employees of both Houses showcasing cultural diversity of the country, sources said on Friday. The building, which is also likely to be inaugurated soon, is likely to hold the session as per the revised set of rules and procedures same for both houses. An internal circular of Lok Sabha Secretariat dated May 8, gave a clear hint of the upcoming inauguration of the new building.

While a proposing a committee of officials of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha secretariats to prepare the dress code, the circular said, “The mandate of the committee is to look into the matter pertaining to procurement of Uniforms of Parliament and to suggest the best possible manner to procure the same keeping in view the scheduled inaugural ceremony of new Parliament Building and upcoming Monsoon Session.”

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has been assigned to prepare the new dress code for Parliament staff from security to officers who would be part of the parliament proceedings during the session.
