Nokia signs digital R&D agreement with Italy’s universities ministry

Nokia’s Italian subsidiary has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Italian Ministry for University and Research (MUR) to work together on the study and development of innovative products and services aimed at boosting the country’s competitiveness in strategic technological sectors. The company said it intends to join forces with the ministry to promote digital skills in the country while expanding its research into areas such as Cognitive & Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality by investing in innovation and increasing synergies with universities and research institutes.

Nokia added that it will also be supporting these activities and strengthening the local ecosystem via a tech incubation centre to be opened at its new Rome HQ before the end of the year.
