We want to help by providing a summary of some of the items we come across each week. Here are some of the news items from this week: <\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/ai-infrastructure.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">AI Infrastructure Alliance (AIIA)<\/a><\/strong>, a non-profit organization with <a href=\"https:\/\/ai-infrastructure.org\/partners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">25 global members<\/a>, officially launched with the mission to create a collaborative environment for companies and communities in the artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) space. This global Alliance brings together top technologists across the AI spectrum and includes a wide range of member companies. Together, these companies and communities provide a glimpse into the future where AI creates real value for everyday businesses and not just big tech powerhouses. Partnerships in the Alliance will help create a Canonical Stack for AI by driving engineering standards and creating seamless integration points between various layers of the AI infrastructure ecosystem. The aim is that a Canonical Stack (CS) for AI will set the standard for how enterprises develop and design machine learning models at scale. It will let data scientists and data engineers move up the stack to solve more complex, higher-order problems instead of reinventing the wheel on every data science project.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opencompute.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Open Compute Project Foundation (OCP)<\/a><\/strong> announced the formation of the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opencompute.org\/wiki\/OCP_Future_Technologies_Initiative\" target=\"_blank\">OCP Future Technologies Initiative<\/a>, a formal project within the Foundation whose mission is to build a future-focused Community within OCP to serve as a forward-looking funnel for ideas and technologies three-to-five years into the future. The Foundation also announced that the initiative will focus on several specific technical areas, in alignment with the OCP Foundation Incubation Committee leaders in their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opencompute.org\/blog\/ocp-incubation-committee-strategic-plan-for-2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">technology roadmap<\/a>. Those areas will be software-defined memory, cloud service model, and AI hardware-software design collaboration. The initiative will also look at additional R&amp;D opportunities areas identified by the community.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Microsoft Azure<\/a><\/strong> recently launched the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/-1aMVvq0OVE\" target=\"_blank\">Azure HPC &amp; AI Collaboration Centers program<\/a>, which funds collaborations with well-known institutions to develop and share these best practices with the high-performance computing and AI communities. The Collaboration Centers program is delivered in partnership with AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA. Under the program, five inaugural centers have been set up. Designed to simplify and accelerate application modernization, the latest version of Red Hat OpenShift is based on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openshift.com\/blog\/kubernetes-1.20-whats-new\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Kubernetes 1.20<\/a>. Red Hat OpenShift 4.7 includes the&nbsp;latest version of OpenShift Virtualization. First released in July 2020, OpenShift Virtualization is designed to help organizations break down application barriers between traditional and cloud-native infrastructure and extend control over distributed resources.&nbsp;Additionally, Red Hat OpenShift 4.7 expands&nbsp;Windows Containers support, first announced in late 2020. In addition to Windows Container support for Red Hat OpenShift on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure, OpenShift will soon include support for Windows Containers on vSphere (expected to be available next month) using Installer Provided Infrastructure (IPI).<\/p>\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon Web Services<\/a><\/strong> announced the general availability of <a href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/lookout-for-vision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Amazon Lookout for Vision<\/a>, a new service that analyzes images using computer vision and machine learning capabilities to spot product or process defects and anomalies in manufactured products. By employing a machine learning technique called \u201cfew-shot learning,\u201d Amazon Lookout for Vision can train a model for a customer using as few as 30 baseline images. Customers can use Amazon Lookout for Vision to detect manufacturing and production defects (e.g., cracks, dents, incorrect color, irregular shape, etc.) in their products and prevent errors from progressing down the operational line and from ever reaching customers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.siemens.com\/global\/en.html\" target=\"_blank\">Siemens<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ibm.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">IBM<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.redhat.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\">Red Hat<\/a><\/strong> announced a new collaboration that will use a hybrid cloud designed to deliver an open, flexible, and more secure solution for manufacturers and plant operators to drive real-time value from operational data. Through the joint initiative,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sw.siemens.com\/en-US\/\" target=\"_blank\">Siemens Digital Industries Software<\/a>&nbsp;will apply IBM\u2019s open hybrid cloud approach, built on <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.openshift.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Red Hat OpenShift<\/a>, to extend the deployment flexibility of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/siemens.mindsphere.io\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">MindSphere<\/a>, the industrial IoT as a service solution from Siemens. This will enable customers to run MindSphere on-premises, unlocking speed and agility in factory and plant operations, as well as through the cloud for seamless product support, updates, and enterprise connectivity.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.deepcube.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">DeepCube<\/a><\/strong> announced the launch of a new suite of products and services to help drive enterprise adoption of deep learning, at scale, on intelligent edge devices, and in data centers. DeepCube will offer solutions for neural network training and inference, allowing users to leverage DeepCube\u2019s technology to address challenges in their deep learning pipeline. Additionally, a new service offering will make available DeepCube\u2019s team of leading AI experts to support deep learning projects.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.waylay.io\/\" target=\"_blank\">Waylay<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cybus.io\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Cybus<\/a><\/strong> announced combined Industry 4.0 solutions. The companies combine the IIoT edge platform Cybus Connectware with the industrial IoT automation platform of Waylay. The partnership aims to serve machine builders, factory owners, and service providers who want to enable their own domain experts in building IIoT services. The main goal is to create digital business models in a quick and reusable way. Cybus provides customers with universal OT-IT connectivity and a unified information model for Industry 4.0 applications. Waylay, in turn, adds its low-code-based, intuitive and visual orchestration, automation, and analytics solution, which guarantees quick customer OT-IT application build cycles, material improvements in enterprise operations, and high ROI.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Real-time analytics news in brief: <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/about.gitlab.com\/company\/\" target=\"_blank\">GitLab<\/a><\/strong> announced the availability of GitLab 13.9, which strengthens DevSecOps at scale, with a Security Alert Dashboard to triage high priority alerts, Maintenance Mode for the unfailing support of distributed teams, better visibility including additional support for DORA metrics, and advanced automation capabilities that will help developers deliver \u201cbetter products, faster.\u201d These are just a few of the 60+ new features and improvements in this release.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hpe.com\" target=\"_blank\">Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE)<\/a><\/strong> announced a collaboration with <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tookitaki.ai\" target=\"_blank\">Tookitaki<\/a><\/strong> to provide an offering for banks and financial institutions across Asia-Pacific.
