HAMILTON, NEW ZEALAND:<\/strong> An award-winning
\nexpert in Microsoft and Unity 3D, 2D, augmented and virtual
\nreality technologies has joined New Zealand Agile software
\nspecialist Company-X.<\/p>\n

Five-time winner of the
\nMicrosoft Most Valuable Professional, Developer Technologies
\naward, Jiadong Chen, recently joined Company-X.<\/p>\n

Chen
\nis one of 3,000 Microsoft Most Valuable Professional award
\nwinners internationally, recognised by Microsoft as one of
\nthe technology industry\u2019s best and brightest five years in
\na row.<\/p>\n

Nominations for the award are made by Microsoft
\nexecutives and existing winners.<\/p>\n

Chen\u2019s awards
\nrecognise his passion for technology, willingness to help
\nothers, and commitment to the international technology
\ncommunity.<\/p>\n

Award recipients have the opportunity to
\nmeet Microsoft executives, network with peers, and position
\nthemselves as technical community leaders through speaking
\nengagements, one on one customer event participation and
\ntechnical content development.<\/p>\n

MVPs also receive early
\naccess to Microsoft technology.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt helps other
\npeople recognise your value,\u201d Chen said of the award.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s recognition from Microsoft.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chen is adept
\nin the Microsoft Azure cloud computing service for building,
\ntesting, deploying and managing applications through
\nMicrosoft data centres.<\/p>\n

He is also a Microsoft
\nCertified Azure Developer Associate and holds a Microsoft
\nAzure Fundamentals certificate.<\/p>\n

Chen joined Company-X
\nfrom Unity, the creator of the world\u2019s most widely-used
\n2D, 3D, augmented and virtual reality development platform,
\nwhere he worked as a field engineer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was based in
\nBeijing before I moved to New Zealand,\u201d Chen said. \u201cIn
\nthis job we provided support to all of our
\ncustomers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chen\u2019s clients included the world\u2019s
\nlargest video game vendor Tencent, based in Shenzhen,
\nChina.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would do project reviews to weed out
\nproblems they encountered. Sometimes we needed to customise
\nthe Unity engine to meet their
\nrequirements.<\/p>\n

\u201cOriginally Unity was a game
\nengine.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a general purpose development
\nplatform so you can do whatever you want. Currently Unity is
\nfocussing on architecture, engineering and
\nconstruction.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe architecture industry is using
\nUnity to develop their virtual reality (VR) application or
\naugmented reality (AR) application to help them design
\nbuildings. There are some other industries, such as the
\nautomotive industry, using Unity to design car prototypes
\nand render a 3D model.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chen, who graduated from
\nDalian Maritime University in Liaoning, China, with a
\nBachelor of Engineering in Electronic Information Science
\nand Technology in 2012, is also the author of the 2016 book
\nUnity 3D <\/i>which has sold 15,000 copies in print and
\neBook editions.<\/p>\n

Chen has presented at both the
\nMicrosoft Ignite and Unite conferences.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to
\nshare knowledge,\u201d Chen said.<\/p>\n

He is also a regular
\ntechnology blogger, posting at http:\/\/www.jiadongchen.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cOn
\nthe other hand writing a blog and writing books can improve
\nmy own capabilities, so I like to write blogs to share
\nknowledge with the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like to do personal
\nprojects in my own time,\u201d Chen said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes I
\nmay look for new ideas and I want to implement the idea, so
\nI will research documents and knowledge and implement it
\nmyself and write something to record it and share the
\nknowledge with the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe technology
\ncreators can make the world a better place, and Company-X
\nhas the same ethos that aligns perfectly with my personal
\nmission, which is why I am so excited to be a part of the
\nteam,\u201d Chen said.<\/p>\n

\nreality specialist Lance Bauerfeind said Chen was already
\nmaking a difference at Company-X<\/p>\n
