Belarusian higher education institutions are growing increasingly interested in the contest. More and more students join in. In particular, about 40 students from the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) will participate in this year’s contest. “Certainly, the contest coincides with guidelines on education development and education renewal, including for higher education universities. University-degree specialists could use applied-knowledge qualifications, which will allow them to generate new ideas in engineering, construction, and other areas,” the official noted. “Apart from that, the contest will feature five competences in the area of future skills such as aquatronics, the development of mobile apps, BIM technologies (digital designing of buildings), polymechanics, and automation.”

A basic professional training contest Junior Skills for secondary school students will take place alongside WorldSkills Belarus 2020. People with disabilities will also take part in the contest in four competences: inclusion skills, fashion technology, web design, graphic design, and system administration. “Many educational institutions teach this category of students. We try to include them into the championship movement in order to give them an opportunity to socialize with colleagues and feel a success situation despite certain limitations,” Valery Golubovsky stressed.

The opening ceremony and the closing one will take place in the sports complex Chizhovka Arena. Secondary school students from Minsk and the regions will take part in them. A demonstration of the image of the vocational education system and the opportunities they can explore as professionals, citizens, and persons will be arranged. “Such a beginning of the professional career does not restrict opportunities for getting a university degree. It creates a solid foundation for one to be truly successful in life and successful as a professional,” the official added.
